Interior Design Trends 2022

Wondering what’s coming for this new year? Here are my predictions for the trends of 2022.

While I am ready to see something new, I think warm tones and muted textures will continue to steal the show.

Vintage

We are seeing vintage pieces more than ever, and it will continue as supply chain issues soar. Wood pieces are timeless and classic. I expect to see modern design mixed with a vintage feel using the warm tones brought by wood or wood-accented pieces.

Black Contrast With Natural Tones

Just like we saw at the Las Vegas Market last fall, black and white contrast paired with natural tones is here to stay. Lately, I have seen this done in art pieces or with sofas rich with velvet textures and textiles create a dramatic look.

Formal Dining Rooms

While the open concept will most likely still be a hot trend, opting for a semi-formal dining space may become a more popular choice. Social distancing is forcing more people to host dinner parties and special events at home. To create a more intimate dining experience, I believe we will be seeing more of these semi-formal event spaces.

 Closed Shelving

With much of the workforce making the switch to working from home, clutter has become a nuisance. An easy way to combat the mess is closed shelving in contrast to the open cabinet trend of the past. I expect to see this shift in design for 2022.

Overall, I predict that 2022 will move the design trends towards more traditional styles. Warmer tones mixed with wood accents and contemporary mixed with vintage elements. COVID-19 is still driving trends due to more people being home more often. Now that many are staying in, there is a push for homes to feel cozy and intimate and this desire is influencing design decisions.

XOXO,

Eden Stringham
