Deer Canyon Reveal

This project was for a hip young family located in Draper, Utah. They wanted a space that their whole family could enjoy, but durability was a must with young kids and dogs.

The Challenge

The client really wanted to go bold, so how could we say no? We decided on Cheating Heart by Benjamin Moore for the paint color in the main living space. The space was originally green but they wanted an updated and modern look to highlight the 24-foot tall ceilings.

Custom

We love doing custom features! This project was no exception. We had a custom leather ottoman made and created an oversized custom sofa to fit the tall husband. The entire sectional was made just for this client! We had art commissioned that was meaningful to them and then created a gallery wall to compliment all of the color together. The final touch was the custom, locally made table tailored to fit their large family.

Durability

We had to sneak in durability, while still creating fun. Functionality matters! We used commercial carpet squares as the dining table rug for an easy swap in the event of a spill. We also chose not to use fabric on the dining chairs so they could be easily cleaned. The custom table has a double stain and the main rug is made out of a wool mix to ensure longevity. For the sectional and ottoman we chose durable materials, created to last.

The Drama!

There always has to be a little drama, right? We had an oopsie with this project but we were quick to correct our mistake. When we ordered a sample of the leather for the ottoman, the oversized swatch looked great! However, when our seamstress received the full piece of fabric it was dramatically striped! As soon as we saw it, we knew that leather was not going to work. Luckily our amazing rep ordered us a different fabric just in time to create the piece without the stripe pattern. All’s well that ends well!
